We live in a thrilling and transformational time in the world of film, entertainment, and media. There have never been more opportunities for filmmakers to create original content or more platforms for its distribution. Gone are the days when creators are forced to appeal to the corporate gatekeepers at film studios and television production companies. I am continually impressed at the quality work of student and independent filmmakers, but there is still so much more that can be done to streamline the process and bring content creators together. There are many platforms available for creative talents such as actors, directors, and screenwriters, as well as industry technicians and crew members – editors, cinematographers, score composers, gaffers, and many others. These traditional means of finding work in our community are valuable resources to create and manage projects. However, there are still stubborn barriers to filmmaking that need to be broken down in order to reach our full potential. Enter Filmpatico.
As an actor, screenwriter, and perpetual student of and advocate for independent film, I am constantly on the lookout for new ways to eliminate barriers to the process and bring content creators together. Filmpatico targets fundamental ingredients of creation, which starts with people. Filmmaking depends on connecting people with projects that make sense for everyone involved, relying on everyone to do their part and contribute. It’s crucial to build a strong network and a community that fosters trust and accountability. As a result, Filmpatico allows you to endorse and vouch for people that you have worked with who have lived up to their commitments and added value to your projects. Additionally, the project management module helps keep everyone on the same page. All your files, tasks, deadlines, locations, and group communication are in one place.
Filmpatico was designed specifically for student and independent filmmakers. Whether you work your magic behind the camera, in front of it, or take on a variety of roles, we want this place to be carefully tailored to your needs as an artist. As this platform is still in development, every type of membership and every feature will be free as we tweak features to better serve the community. We need to hear from you – anything positive or negative is helpful, in order to know what is and isn’t helpful to you. If you see something that needs additional fine tuning, or isn’t working correctly, please fill out the contact form at the bottom of the page or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Go ahead and send a message if you have any other feedback or just to say hi, too. Happy creating!
